Leaders from Geobrugg visits our lab ----2018-10-25

On October 18th, Christophe Balg (Asia-Pacific-Africa general manager) and Peng Wei(Vice General Manager in Chengdu) from Swiss company Geobrugg visited our lab. The two sides exchanged views on the development of flexible protection system, how to cooperate in technology innovation. Our Associate Research Fellow Zeng Peng, Dr. Cheng Jianlong and some researchers take part in this meeting which was presided over by Zeng.

Before the meeting, Zeng showed our guests around our lad to introduce our geohazard monitoring and early-warning system, UAV, VR devices and debris flow lab.

In the meeting, the long-term cooperation and main research fields among the two sides were introduced. Mr. Balg introduced their new concepts and new technologies in the aspects of flexible protection net for falling rocks and flexible interception net for debris flow.In particular, he highlighted their methods and results in the test of flexible protection system for tunnel rock-burst at the University of Western Australia.

The two sides made a further discussion on the joint-construction and site-sharing of flexible protection system test for slope rockfall. It is said that the cooperation agreement will be signed recently, building a new platform for school-enterprise cooperation. Geobrugg develops and manufactures protection systems made of high-tensile steel wire. These systems protect against natural hazards such as rockfall, landslides, debris flow and avalanches. More than 65 years of experience and close collaboration with research institutes and universities make Geobrugg a pioneer and leading expert in these fields.
